Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS) is a tertiary level Medical Institute deals in patient care, teaching, training and research activities in the field of Mental Health, Neuro and other Allied Sciences. It came into existence in 1993-94 after taking over the administration of the Hospital for Mental Diseases. Institute is an autonomous body registered under the Registration of Societies Act, XXI of 1860, under the Govt. of NCT, Delhi and funded jointly by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Govt. of India & GNCT Delhi.
The main objective of the institute is:

To provide high quality super specialty care using state of art technology in Psychiatry, Neurology and Behavioural Sciences. |

To conduct research in the field of Psychiatry, Neurology and Behavioural Sciences. |

To provide comprehensive training at MD, DM, M.Phil and Ph.D level in Psychiatry, Neurology and Behavioural Sciences. |
The Institute provides tertiary level facilities with also a mixture of primary and secondary level care in the field of Neurobehaviour sciences. For this, it utilizes a unique approach through clinical (Psychiatry and Neurology), social (Clinical Psychology, Psychiatric Social Works and Medical Anthropology) and basic sciences (Neurochemistry, Microbiology, Neuropathology and Neuropsychopharmacology) to provide comprehensive treatment for the patients.
