OVERVIEW

Community Medicine (also known as Public Health, Preventive and Social Medicine, or Community Health) is a core clinical subject in medical education that shifts the focus of healthcare from individual patients to entire populations. It trains medical students to prevent disease, promote health, and prolong life through organized community efforts. While clinical subjects teach students how to treat sick individuals in hospitals, Community Medicine teaches them how to identify and control health determinants, manage epidemics, and implement healthcare policies across diverse communities.
