Overview
Dermatology is a highly visual, specialized clinical subject in medical education that trains students to diagnose and treat disorders of the skin, hair, nails, and adjacent mucous membranes. It bridges internal medicine and surgery, as the skin often acts as a window displaying signs of deep systemic diseases. While once treated as a brief elective, modern medical curricula integrate dermatology heavily due to the high volume of skin complaints seen in primary care, emergency rooms, and pediatric clinics.
