Department of Forensic Medicine
Overview
Forensic Medicine (also known as Legal Medicine or Forensic Medicine and Toxicology) is a core clinical-legal subject in medical education that applies medical knowledge to legal problems and court proceedings. It trains medical students to act as objective medical experts for the justice system. The subject shifts the physician's focus from treating clinical disease to investigating unnatural deaths, documenting physical trauma, analyzing poisoning cases, and upholding medical ethics and jurisprudence.
