Overview
Orthopaedics is a core musculoskeletal clinical and surgical subject in medical education that trains students to prevent, diagnose, and treat disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. It spans a vast clinical spectrum from acute, life-threatening trauma to chronic, debilitating degenerative diseases. Because bone fractures, joint pain, and back problems make up a massive percentage of emergency room and primary care visits, mastering orthopaedics is mandatory for all medical graduates.
